FACE is going to be entered into November’s Resident’s Journal Charity competition – neighbours will have the chance to vote for several local charities and the winners will each receive a donation of £500!
As we are raising money for 3 different local causes we’re hoping to get lots of votes – it will be wonderful if we can give The Furzedown Project the defibrillator they wanted as a Christmas present this December!
St George’s Hospital has just given us a nice comment on their supporter’s website – Giving to George’s; they had a great time at our quiz night which raised over £3,000!
Proud to be invited to celebration of local charities & community groups by Sadiq Khan at Parliament last night – got drinks and a tour as well as the chance to chat to other local groups. Really good evening
We’ve been featured in the local issue of The Resident’s Journal, more than we’d thought – a whole double page spread. We’re a bit embarrassed but proud too, and of course we could have done nothing without the support of everyone in Furzedown!
Sadiq Khan opened the event,
Our hardworking local MP has been amazingly supportive of our work, giving up his time and donating prizes for our raffle. His opening speech was great – he apoligised for not being Arthur Smith! He knew Gareth and was moved by him and his family and their struggle with MND.
Sadiq also picked the winning ticket for a Heyland & Whittle gift hamper.
Our Heads & Tails game was very popular – probably because of the great prize – a Martini evening at The Little Bar worth up to £150
She was very happy to win!
The food was delicious – chilli con carne and jacket potatoes followed by a cakes galore
The quiz itself was challenging and fun with 10 rounds of very different questions, from identifying pasta and rice to film stills and current affairs… something for everyone!
There were teams from St George’s hospital as well as the South London MND Association and even a team of Graveney six formers!
The winning team were The Cherry Garcias – well done to them!
Hope everyone enjoyed the evening
Get your thinking caps on and get down to Graveney tonight!
Great Prizes, yummy food and a fun quiz – looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Tickets are selling very well – nearly 180 sold so far! but there are still some available which can be picked up at the door on the night – please email us before-hand to let us know if you’re coming; firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re all getting ready for the quiz night this Saturday at 7pm in Graveney School upper hall, we’ve sold over 160 tickets so far and have some great brain-teasers and prizes for the night.
Heyland & Whittle have given us a magnificent gift hamper of their handmade goodies (worth apx £150 pictured) which will be the special prize on the night and everyone who comes will have a chance of winning it!
They will also have the chance to enter the Heads & Tails game to win a night at The Little Bar worth £150 and they can also buy raffle tickets.
The prizes will be drawn on the night.
Looking forward to everyone being there!
The lovely Little Bar at the bottom of Church Lane has offered us a great prize for our quiz night on 5 October. @LittleBarSW17

The prize has been supported by their suppliers, Coe Vintners. It is not part of the raffle(which can’t feature alcoholic prizes) but will be won by someone coming to the Quiz night – another great reason to join in!
